Track

This season we had a lot of fun watching all the boys compete in track. Teague did the 800m and 400m. He started on JV and won 1st in the 800m every time. By the district meet the coaches moved him up to Varsity to give him some harder competition which worked because he got his best time. Kelby ran a few mid distance races, but didn’t really enjoy that and he was moved to the relays and liked that much better. Troy did some jumping and the relays and tweaked his hamstring at the district meet. With some intense therapy he was able to compete at area and make it to regionals.

At Regionals, Troy placed 3rd in the long jump and was 1/2 an inch away from going to State. It was pretty devastating. He also wore out his hamstrings with all the jumping, plus with his mental state being low, he didn’t run any of the relays for prelims. We came back for the finals on Day 2 and Troy was ready to run. The weather was raining, windy and cold but they got it done. The 4x1 placed 5th and the 4x2 placed 4th. Both races ran great considering the conditions.

In a wonderful turn of events, Troy was invited to the state meet just two days before the meet. Again, the weather was nasty, but he competed well! He placed 5th! He had a wonderful cheering section and had such a cool experience! All the guys that beat him were seniors so I have no doubt next year will be HIS year!!
