Mother's Day

This Mother's Day was very relaxing. Troy and Teague gave me their gifts before they went to their dad's. I love the cute school gifts that they came home with!

And Richard surprised me with new running gear!

And my mom got me a new charm for my mother's charm bracelet.

After church we were able to have lunch with Richard's parents and then I just hung around the house and relaxed! It was a nice weekend to reflect on how great my own mom is, how helpful all the moms in my life are in so many situations, and how blessed I am that God made me a mom!

Chores

Since we have a bigger house now and all the kids are big enough to be helping out, we have started to try to implement some sort of chore schedule.  We let the kids sort of pick what they wanted to do and then we said that they would get a minimal amount of money IF the tasks were completed on a weekly basis.  The one stipulation was that their rooms must be picked up nightly from clutter on the floor, etc... It has been about a month and so far, so good!

A few of them are even asking to do more things around the house to earn more money.  Baylee is trying hard to earn money for her car this fall, so she too, is eager to do more to make more.  So I decided to try out the Work for Hire board.  I have put some odd jobs that need to be done around the house up there along with a monetary value and how we want them completed correctly.  If they want the money and like the task they can grab it, if not, no big deal, Richard and I will get around to them eventually.  I am anxious to see if they jump on this opportunity or not?  I am hoping that all of this will help with money management skills, a sense of cleanliness that needs to be instilled in every little kid and the common sense of knowing that if you need money, the best place to go is to work!!

Koby's 12th Birthday

Today we were able to celebrate Koby!! The traditional morning donuts, the requested dinner, which was macaroni and cheese with sausage, and cake and presents!  He got a ton of great things; gift cards, clothes, Cologne, a wallet and money. I think he got all his favorite things!

I came across some old pictures so here is the birthday boy throughout the years...

Happy Birthday Koby-man!! Keep chasing God with all your heart and He will always guide your steps!! We love you and love that you are a part of this family!

A "nerdy" party

It was another birthday weekend at my parents house. This time it was my dad who we were celebrating! The theme was accounting, since he is an accountant. The table was decorated with money coasters, money bags filled with candy, dad's business cards, and chocolate coins.

The center pieces had all smarties, nerds, 100 grand and chocolate $100 bills! It was too cute!

In the serving area she had the needlepoint work she had made my dad way back when.
And the ice ring had $1 bills in it along with the ice cubes being actual money signs!

After dinner was presents. Troy painted Dad a fish painting that he was excited to give him.

Then is was cake and ice cream.

Happy Birthday, Dad! You are the best!!

Color Run

The kids' school had a 5k Color Run this morning.  Everyone wanted to run except Teague so he hung out with some of his friends while we took pictures of the others.  They all did great and crossed the finish line covered in color!

Free snow cones for all the finishers is always a plus!!

Opening Day

It finally got here...Opening Day!! Our annual tailgating started early this morning with breakfast casserole and pigs in a blanket. Then around lunch, Trish fired up the grill and we had fajitas and chips and dip with fruit and cookies and cupcakes and cake! There is always plenty to eat!! The morning was a little chilly, but it warmed up nicely by game time! Although the Rangers lost, we still loved cheering them on and starting baseball season off right!!

Christian Youth Weekend

Six Flags had its Christian Youth Weekend this weekend so we took the youth to ride rides and see Lecrae in concert. We had two van loads full and pulled out at 8am and didn't pull back in until 1am!!

After lunch, Amber met us out there!

During the concert, the boys started to get cold and tired and cranky.
Good thing Aunt Amber bought them snakes, they served as a blanket once the sun went down. The second their head hit the chair in the van, they were out!

Our trips to Six Flags are always so much fun!!

6 years old!

Yesterday Teague turned 6!  He got a ton of birthday calls throughout the day, donuts in the morning and his favorite meal, taco salad, that night. We ended the night with ice cream cake and presents! I would say that's a pretty good birthday!
