Troy was honored at Crossroads this Sunday. Emily put together the cutest table with all sorts of pictures and awards and artifacts from Troy’s school days. During the service, Troy was prayed over by others and we were able to lift him up in prayer and through worship for his future. It was a special day!
The last baseball season is here. The team has played several tournaments already and has taken their team pics!
They are projecting this year they will go pretty far into playoffs so we are excited to see what this season holds!
The Muenster Tournament was so much fun! The team won all 4 of their games and played really well! The last game had winds up to 70 miles an hour so we almost blew away, but they pulled out a win. They also had a blast in their Air BNB as a team. What special memories!
Senior Night!! We got to walk Kelby out on the field for his last home game! He gave me and Richard a sweet thank you note and some flowers. They got the win and clenched District Champs, so that made it even better!
The Postseason is here! As the opponents are getting tougher the guys are having to find a way to win each game. Area was played in West so a ton of people came out to support the team and the student section showed up loud and proud! The semi regional game was played in Forney and the weather and the boys’ health did not cooperate. Almost every player battle through and flu and strep throat leading up to the games and there were several weathers delays in the last game and sadly at 12:30am we lost our second game and were out. It was heartbreaking. We were definitely the better team, but just couldn’t get in sync. The season was a blast, but watching the boys grieve at that last game is something I’ll always remember. Kelbly received the First Team All District Outfield award.
The athletic banquet is always so much fun. Richard and the board do so much all season for the coaches and athletes and it’s fun to celebrate the booster club and the coaches and teams for all their hard work. The boys racked in the certificates and accolades. I know Troy and Kelby will miss team sports! I am thankful for all they learned and how they grew as men through athletics. Coach Cruz was so kind and framed Troy’s powerlifting certificate and he also made sure he said goodbye through tears and hugs to Troy. They have a very special bond! Athletics will look differently next year as we will only have to Teague to cheer on!!
The Senior class participated in Decision Day where they announce their future plans after high school and the school awards a few scholarships. Kelby announced he will be attending TSTC to learn about construction and Troy announced he will be attending Texas Tech with a pre-med major. Both boys received a few scholarships!
Track season is here! The boys are doing both track and powerlifting for a short time due to making it to a regionals in powerlifting so they are busy. Troy is doing the long jump and maybe a sprint or relay depending on how his hamstring feels. Teague is doing the 800m and 400m and/or the 4x4 relay.
District: Troy got 1st in long jump. Teague got 4th is the 800m and 2nd in the 4x4 relay so they both will advance to Area!
The boys competed so well in Area…personal records in everything!! Troy jumped 23’4”, Teague ran a 2:08 800m and the 4x4 came in at 3:27!! It was such a fun night celebrating all their hard work! Now on to Regionals!!
Regionals was another roller coaster of emotions. Troy did not jump his best, but on his last jump he ended up taking 1st place!! We were ecstatic!! What a fun morning! The rest of the team made it to Palestine around lunch and ran the 4x4 that night and made it to finals. The next day they ran finals and just didn’t run their best and ended up 7th place. It was a bit disheartening, but what a fun experience for them! Now, on to State for Troy!
State was held in Austin and Cole and Troy had the royal treatment! They left school Thursday morning to a send off and spent the day checking into their hotel and watching other track events compete and eating great food. Friday morning Troy competed at 9am. He had a large cheering section and it was so exciting to have so many people there to celebrate with when he won 1st place! It was his best series of jumps all year. I’m so thankful for the coaching and the support and just the way Troy worked so hard to accomplish this goal. He deserves every bit of today and I hope he soaks it all in!
