Going Grand

It looks like Richard and I will be grandparents this summer! 

I have been praying for this little one often, but last week the Lord woke me up at 4:30am to pray again. As I started listing the qualities that came to mind I started with love and how I hoped it would have love like Jesus and to share boldly about Jesus like Paul. I think Paul came to mind because I’m currently reading about Paul. Then I asked for it to have wisdom like…I was going to say Deborah, but I felt the Spirit so not like Deborah, but like Solomon. I then thought of courage and bravery like David and Daniel. As I thought back over the list I noticed it was all men. That made me wonder if the Lord was telling me this little one was a boy?!? 

At the gender reveal I was not one bit surprised when I saw blue. The Lord is so faithful and personal and I know that this little boy and I will have one thing in common…Jesus. 

Thanksgiving

This year’s Thanksgiving looked a little different due to football. Because of all the practices we were unable to travel so we spend the afternoon and evening at Lynette’s with Richard’s brother’s family. We ate and played games and watched the Cowboys. Maysen even decided to play beauty parlor and curl my hair! It was a relaxing day!

Senior Night

The boys played their last game at Ellison Field and to honor them we went all out for Senior Night. The lockers were decorated on Thursday and then the pep rally started the fun off with a surprise baby fat head song. The cheerleaders came out with each seniors’ baby pic and it was hilarious. 

Then, before the game we had the senior walk.

The game was a little too close, but both boys made great plays and Troy even got one last touchdown on his home field!

After the game the boys did a “signing off” and we watched a super fireworks show! It was a great way to end their football career on home turf!

The right to vote

Now that the boys are 18 we took them to the polls with us! They didn’t act like they were too impressed with the whole process, but at least they accessed their right to vote and went through the process to know how it works.

Troy is 18! Welcome to adulthood! I had fun decorating the house for the celebration this month. I also made a tower of some of his favorites for him to enjoy. Praying this year is full of life lessons that lead him closer to the Lord as he gets ready to take on the world.

Blessing Ceremony

The night before Troy’s birthday I decided to have a blessing ceremony for him. As he enters into manhood I wanted to do everything in my power to set him up for success. A few months ago I asked all the men in his life to write a letter to Troy giving advice or encouragement. I also prepared a few other little things I wanted to speak over him and the Lord gave me a few ideas, as well. I took him to a beautiful bluff at sunset and I explained what a blessing ceremony was, let him read his letters, prayed over and anointed him with oil, we listened to worship music and I gave him a sword to symbolize and memorialize the night. It was such a peaceful evening and I pray it is something he remembers always and that the Lord uses as Troy steps out on his own in a few short months.
