Camp BASS

Troy was 1 of 34 who were selected to participate in Camp BASS this year. They said over 900 applications came in, so I’m so thankful he was given this opportunity. Childhood friends, Austin and Michelle, also had a son attending so it was good to see them there and for Troy to at least know the name of one other person attending.

Troy said he had a great week! He fished every morning from sun up until lunch and then went on field trips in the afternoon when it was too hot to fish.

They visited rod building places and lures making places and fisheries and more. Each place was so generous to give them free stuff or discounted rates. Troy really stocked up on new gear.

On Friday, they had a banquet that families could attend and gave out awards. Troy won the Best knot tying award and it came with a new rod! I’m so impressed with the whole process and look forward to see if he’s accepted again next year!

After Troy came home, he was excited to go show Papa all his new gear and tell him all about the week.

Girls beach trip

The weekend was spent at Jamaica Beach with a very special group of girls. The One Year Bible group decided to take a beach trip centered around our faith. In the end 12 women committed to the weekend and it was amazing.

Friday night night was spent making unleavened bread together and sharing a meal with communion. This was one of my most memorable communions that I have ever experienced.

Saturday we enjoyed the beach and talking and reading and relaxing. Then, we got ready for dinner in our matching shirts and headed to the sea wall for great food and souvenir shopping.

Sunday was a slow morning with great conversation over coffee and breakfast before we loaded up and headed home. It’s amazing what one weekend away with the only focus being Jesus can do for your soul!

Yearly get together

Our yearly gathering to swim at Tanna’s was wonderful, as usual. The kids swim and play and we get to catch up and visit. Laura and Tanna are so special to me and I treasure these visits and how we always walk away more joyful and refreshed!

4th of July

This is the first 4th of July we have been able to celebrate away from the fireworks store in a decade!  Due to being shut down completely in July 1st we had extra time to attend a pool party at the Fetsch’s and also hit the lake with the Hooters. What a great way to spend the holiday weekend!
