VBS

The youth put on a three day Vacation Bible School for the younger kids in Axtell. They did a great job leading out and organizing activities and keeping the energy high.  Part of growing in your faith is being able to teach and lead others, so it was a great week of stretching the youth out of their comfort zone and building their own faith!

Over the rainbow bridge

I had to say good-bye to McKenna today. Over the last few months her renal failure and arthritis were starting to get the best of her and last night what started as just throwing up food and water turned to blood by the morning and I knew it was time. She didn’t look well and I could tell in her face she was in pain.

She was the best dog and I’m so glad I was able to spend 14 out of the 16 years of her life with her! She was my constant when I was a single mom, she was my running partner even when I knew her joints were hurting, and she was my best friend through so many stages of life. She will be missed dearly!

College Visit #2

Troy and I headed to Lubbock to check out Texas Tech. Teague and Troy’s friend Derrick joined us for a fast 24 hours exploring Lubbock and learning all about Tech. Things have grown and changed so much over the last 20 years, but Tech is still just as awesome as it was back then.

Anniversary weekend

We planned a small get-away for our anniversary. Alicia’s company had seats she gifted to me and Amber and the guys, so Richard and I booked a hotel room at Live for the previous night and enjoyed a quick, 24 hour celebration. We enjoyed the pool, a wonderful meal at the hotel restaurant on Saturday and then when Amber and Cliff arrived on Sunday we ate lunch down at Live and went to the game. It’s always fun to celebrate back at the location where we were married!

Summer tradition

We had our annual swim day at Tanna’s. Laura and her family were unable to come due to illness and Heath was at church camp, but the rest of the kids had a great time once they warmed up to each other. Sitting in the sun and visiting is always a great way to spend an afternoon!

TCASE Conference

The SPED team was able to attend the TCASE conference in Austin over the last three days. We had so much fun and it was great team bonding. I was able to learn so much about the legal side of special education and also start to familiarizing myself with all the acronyms that go along with my no position. This year is going to be a blast!

Lake day!

Our schedule has been so busy that we’ve had no time for lake days, but we made today work! It’s always nice to get away and float and visit with everyone!

Fireworks Store 2024

This season American was bought out by TNT. There were so many things different and difficult about this transition, but Richard made it work. He had Josh and Charles as managers with him and lots of helpers from the youth that did a great job. Lacy and I also came up to help as the store got busier closer to the 4th. It’s always an exhausting few days, but worth it.
