Dan's Best Friend

For the last week we have been taking Chip to the vet to see why he has been acting so sluggish and weak and has gained alot of weight, and we finally got some answers. The blood work shows low blood sugar which unfortunately only means one thing, a tumor on the pancreas that is always cancerous and never curable. The vet said this disease is really rare and she has never diagnosed it before in her career. They think he has around 8 months to 2 years left to live, which we are thankful for. We have changed his eating pattern to 5 small meals a day to keep his blood sugar up and we already see a big difference in his energy level. The vet is still running a few tests that were supposed to be back today but she called and said they are sending them to a different lab and they will call on Friday with the results of those tests. We will see what they say then, but for now we are just trying to make Chip as comfortable as possible!

Awww...I'm sorry, Brit. My parents' dog Jake had surgery today to remove a tumor from his throat. Sad how they get sick just like people. :( Hang in there, Chip.

How sad. Eric will be very sad. Aspen has suddenly lost a ton of weight and acts hungry constantly, Eric thinks she has cancer, but right now we just can't get the time to take her to the vet because life is so crazy. It is sad!:) Hope Chip has the better diagnosis.
